20 years of seeking the ‘Ah ha’ moment of understanding. Thousands of books, hundreds of courses, weeks of retreats until my weary journey finally ‘led me’ to a strange thing called “Awakening to Your True Self Is Not Difficult” presented by a gentle, unassuming being, whom I’d never heard of. I was immediately deeply dubious.

“Really?! Awakening?! In just a few hours?”

I’d spent so long contorting my body and psyche in the quest for Oneness that I’d pretty much given up on the end result. I could stand on my head for hours, fast for days and recite Patanjali’s Sutras backwards, so it seemed highly doubtful that ‘some person’ was going to successfully trigger this experience in just a few hours. And yet, I found myself booking an appointment. And lo and behold, I still can’t believe it myself, Awakening happened.

And, the earth did not shake, flames did not rise up through my spine and my chakras did not vibrate!

The experience was in fact logical. Simple. Natural. And so very quiet.
And the knowingness expanded as the session progressed. Word by sentence by understanding. The process dissolved deep and crusty beliefs that I held true and dear. It was a penetrating shift, a quiet revolution that has brought and continues to bring much softness and peace.

Since then, still life and humanness, yet space and joy.

Dear students, clients, and friends,

The false beliefs about who or what you are are the root of your suffering. Pierce through the veil of these lies — the result of simple conditioning — and you will unleash a profound Liberation. Hold on to these false beliefs about yourself, and not even a thousand years of prayers, meditations, chants to the Divine, or reading scriptures will awaken you from the dream of the “I.”

How is it possible to trigger Awakening in just three to five hours? It is achieved through a systematic process aimed at clarifying fundamental misconceptions, combined with very precise exercises involving Attention or Consciousness. This combination, called “The Awakening Protocol,” leads the seeker to penetrate the illusion of what they imagine themselves to be — and are not — with a level of efficiency not yet seen among the spiritual methods available in the first two decades of this century.

Will it work for you? There is no guarantee or honest prediction that can be made about when an individual will Awaken to their True Nature. However, I have done this work for more than ten years — ever since Awakening occurred in this psycho-physical organism called Gian — and I have seen that the success rate is high. Even those who do not fully Awaken benefit and move closer to the Goal.

And can someone who Awakens then Awaken others? Currently, through the Psychology of Consciousness course offered by the School of Awakening, I am training students to be able to do this work and Awaken others. Everyone who Awakens is potentially a teacher who can Awaken thousands. There is no service more valuable, noble, or fulfilling than helping others realize their Divinity. They — just like you and me — already are the Divine Itself, but do not know it, cannot feel it, and mistakenly believe themselves to be a limited human being.

There is only one way to stop seeking — you must find what you set out to find! Are you ready to stop being a seeker of the Truth (about you) and finally find what you have been searching for? Or, will you continue searching indefinitely until your final day in this world? Being a seeker is painful, because you always feel incomplete — once and for all, find what you have been seeking! Affirm every day: “I want to Wake-Up, I want to Wake-Up, I want to Wake-Up!” Your sincerity is what matters most — and it will attract the result mathematically.

How much money have you spent searching for your Awakening? It’s possible that by now you have spent a small fortune on your spiritual quest — in donations, retreats, books, workshops, etc. And it is likely that none has produced the result you are truly seeking. And this is without counting the other “costs,” such as the time spent and the many neurosis and sufferings of walking a long spiritual path with no clear results. Biography of Gian Girardi

Gian Girardi, founder of the School of Awakening, was born in Chile in 1955. His father was Italian and his mother of Spanish descent. From childhood he felt a strong interest in science and later in the humanities, especially in the spiritual life and Awakening to Consciousness.

At age 24 he graduated as an engineer from the most prestigious university in Chile. After marrying Viviana Felmer, their shared spiritual interests led them to move to the United States, where Gian completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and obtained his California State License to practice psychotherapy. Through decades of professional work in personal and transpersonal psychology, Gian has accumulated extensive experience in both clinical work
as well as teaching and coaching.

After a long and frustrating 24-year period practicing different forms of yoga, Gian became interested in Jnana Yoga, or the yoga of wisdom, considered in India the most advanced yoga, also known as Advaita (Non-Duality). The most famous exponents of Advaita are Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta Maharaj, and others.

In the West, Advaita is also known as the path of Non-Duality, and due to its effectiveness in triggering Awakening, this methodology is rapidly expanding at a pace unprecedented in the spiritual world. Zen, in some aspects, is similar to Advaita, but Advaita is easier to understand and practice, and does not require monastic training.

In Zen, Awakening is considered an event that requires a direct and individual transmission from teacher to student. Books, videos, and recordings are useful, but ultimately, this individual interaction between teacher and student is necessary in most cases. Fortunately, however, in Advaita the relationship between teacher and student is usually informal and free from the constraints and complications typical of the Guru-disciple relationship in other yogic traditions.

After Gian found the spiritual path that suited his temperament, Awakening gradually unfolded over a ten-year period. And again, toward the end of this process, direct interaction with an Awakened teacher was necessary.

Due to his long professional career in psychology and spiritual teaching, Awakening immediately ignited in Gian the desire to share the invaluable understanding he had reached with his students, friends, and clients. Gian began teaching Advaita in 2007.

Soon came the realization that there is no higher or more valuable service than helping others Awaken to their True Nature.

As a teacher in the spiritual field of Awakening, Gian has been especially interested in developing simple and effective language capable of transmitting Awakening from teacher to student in the shortest possible time. The individual transmission is not done, as many imagine, by touching the student’s forehead or performing other magical interventions. True and effective transmission, which produces real integration, occurs through simple conversation and specific attention exercises that lead to recognizing the presence of Divine Consciousness in human experience. Therefore, the language used must be precise, simple, and effective in “pointing” to the True Self, already present in the aspirant.

The seeker tends to naïvely believe that after Awakening the work is done and they will be “happy forever.” This is not so! Realizing that you already are Divine Consciousness — and always have been — and that you are not the body, the mind, or the soul, brings great relief, but does not grant total and complete Liberation. To reach final Liberation, the aspirant must continue after Awakening to purify the psycho-physical organism — now recognized as “not-self” — of neuroses, false beliefs, addictions, attachments and aversions, and emotional reactivity. To do this final work of “Embodying the Awakening”, the “Technique of Surrender” is unique in its efficiency and simplicity. This technique may be practiced before and/or after Awakening.

Several years after Awakening, Gian’s commitment to continue toward Liberation led him to a teacher who personally taught him “The Technique of Surrender.” This teacher lived in a state of Bliss and connection with the Divine. The personal and professional practice of this technique led Gian to write the following:
